Car emblems are small, but they are the toughest rhinestone job per square inch you can take on. A badge faces sun, rain, freeway speeds, vibration, and car washes, for years. My studio has crystallized everything from daily drivers to a 1956 Porsche 356 in 247,148 Swarovski crystals, and later the world's first bedazzled hypercar. Emblems are where most people start. Why 2-part epoxy is non-negotiable on cars
Craft glue has no business on a vehicle. Two-part epoxy cures into a weatherproof bond that handles heat cycles, UV, and pressure washing. It is what I use on automotive work, full stop.
Stone choice for automotive
Automotive is the harshest test a stone ever faces, so quality matters most here. My big automotive projects lean on Swarovski and Preciosa for maximum durability and fire. For quick emblem jobs on a moderate budget, KiraKira glass delivers gorgeous results. Whatever you choose, the foil quality decides how year three looks.
The method in brief
- Remove the emblem if possible. Working flat beats working vertical every time.
- Degrease thoroughly. Road film is invisible and everywhere.
- Map your stone layout dry before mixing epoxy. Emblems have tight corners and letters.
- Mix epoxy in small batches and work section by section.
- Place with the Crystal Katana, snug spacing, no touching stones.
- Full cure before reinstalling. Then wash gently for the first few weeks.
